Lead Onshore Commissioning Engineer – Safety Systems

About the role

Penspen is seeking a Lead Onshore Commissioning Engineer to manage safety system commissioning for an offshore PMC project in Abu Dhabi. The role involves planning, coordinating and executing pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities for process and utility systems at the onshore yard.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement system‑wise commissioning execution plans, procedures, method statements and checklists in line with project specifications and international standards.
• Lead pre‑commissioning tasks such as flushing, cleaning, leak testing, drying, calibration, functional checks and loop testing for process units including separation, gas treatment, water injection, produced water, flare and utilities.
• Review P&IDs, PFDs, cause‑effect matrices, control narratives and vendor documentation to define the commissioning scope.
• Act as the primary interface between engineering, construction, vendors and offshore commissioning teams, ensuring compliance with HSE standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 15‑18+ years of oil & gas commissioning experience, with at least 5 years in a lead role.
• Previous experience on ADNOC projects and familiarity with offshore process and utility safety systems is an advantage.

Required skills

• Commissioning of safety systems for offshore process and utility facilities.
• Knowledge of international standards such as API, ASME, IEC and ISO.
• Ability to review and interpret P&IDs, PFDs and related engineering documents.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, process).
