Lead Project Engineer - Customer Project Engineering

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for a Control Systems Lead Project Engineer who acts as the single point of contact for engineering on customer projects. The engineer develops knowledge of electrical and mechanical control systems for turbines, generators, compressors and plant controls, coordinates technology resources, and works alongside experienced engineers to design, manufacture and commission custom energy solutions at domestic and international sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for retrofit control systems under the project manager's overall responsibility, and be accountable for deliverables, customer CTQ compliance, schedule and team performance.
• Analyse, design, test and troubleshoot control systems using electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
• Lead the project team to meet KPIs and milestones, own project engineering hours budgets and milestone schedules, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review contract documentation and customer specifications, co-responsible for technical review and responses, and support sales in interpreting requirements for proposals and tables of compliance.
• Receive mentoring from Senior Project Engineers, help design interfaces to existing turbine control equipment, and co-lead technical design reviews with documented deliverables.
• Support customer meetings, factory acceptance testing, installation and commissioning, and frequently interact with customers and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience with power applications and turbine-generator control systems for gas and steam turbines and excitation controls, or 6 years with a Master's degree in a STEM field.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical control systems and ability to handle multiple projects in a matrix management environment.
• Domestic and international travel may be required.

Required skills

• Electrical and mechanical control systems.
• Preferred: ALSTOM steam turbine and compressor controls, GE MarkV, MarkVI, MarkVIe and EX2100e systems, and GE HMIs, networking and cyber solutions.
• Preferred: ControlST software suite, DCS protocols such as MODBUS, OPC and IEC, and Green Belt or other lean training.
