Lead Quantity Surveyor - Post Contract Commercial Lead

About the role

Al Tayer Group is hiring a Lead Quantity Surveyor in Dubai for larger-value projects. The role acts as a Post Contract Commercial Lead and includes managing a junior commercial team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess tender BOQs against IFC information and update them, and handle float enquiries to obtain final offers from the supply chain
• Prepare sub-contract and purchase orders, including drawings, programme and BOQs
• Detect variations and changes to the contract with the project team, and negotiate and conclude variations and claims with subcontractors and clients
• Prepare monthly project valuations and submit them on time to the employer
• Procure insurances and bonds, and review and issue monthly payment certificates to subcontractors
• Handle general contract administration, including drafting notices of delay, variations and claims, and submitting variations to the employer
• Prepare claims for extensions of time, keeping contemporary records, and undertake monthly cost reporting with the project manager
• Prepare and conclude final accounts, and resolve commercial matters during the defects liability period, including defects rectification, bond returns and retention releases
• Help estimate potential projects when the estimation department is at full capacity
• Guide and motivate subordinates, develop them and ensure they are prepared for higher-level roles

Required profile

• Graduate in a construction discipline or equivalent
• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 7 years in post contract quantity surveying
• Knowledge of the local market is an advantage
