Lead Teacher - Reggio Emilia Nursery

About the role

Art Village Nursery, a Reggio Emilia-inspired early years setting acquired by HEI UAE in August 2024, is looking for a Lead Teacher in Dubai. The nursery draws on a Scandinavian early childhood pedagogy and a Forest School approach, where nature is seen as the greatest teacher. The Lead Teacher runs the daily activities and the class programme, supervises teaching assistants and nannies, and creates a safe, healthy environment that supports children's intellectual, emotional, social and physical development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a weekly programme covering listening, language, mathematics, science, arts, music, drama, storytelling and imaginative play
• Supervise, evaluate and instruct teaching assistants and nannies
• Take a daily attendance register, prepare weekly lesson plans and share them with the principal and teaching assistant
• Teach basic hygiene, eating habits and social skills, and set and enforce behaviour rules
• Observe and evaluate children, identify concerns and discuss them with the principal, nurse, parents or a child development specialist
• Meet parents regularly to discuss progress and needs, and communicate by telephone when necessary
• Maintain accurate records, reports and portfolios of children's work, and prepare materials for substitute teachers
• Organise and label displays, supervise indoor and outdoor play, and attend staff meetings and training
• Manage classroom costs, inventory and reporting of lost or damaged materials

Required profile

• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or NCFE CACHE Level 3 certificate; desired: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
• Minimum: at least 2 years working with children in a nursery or early learning setting; desired: 3-5 years, including supervising others
• Fluent English and knowledge of the Swedish curriculum and child-centred education philosophy
