Learning Support Teacher

About the role

The International School of Choueifat in Ras Al Khaimah is looking for a Learning Support Teacher. The role has an oversight function for all students in the academy setting, ensuring a safe academic environment and following up on each student's academic progress. It works closely with the Student Life and Student Management teams and reports accurately and on time to the SEAQC and other bodies on students' performance and challenges. The main assignment may be a specific classroom (including homeroom duties) or teaching a particular subject in regular or intensive classes.

Key responsibilities

• Teach using the provided pacing charts and the SABIS point system.
• Mark exams according to the schedule and materials provided by the department.
• Discuss disciplinary and performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller and the head of department.
• Implement the SABIS point system in the classroom and invigilate exams when needed.
• Support academically underperforming students so they can reach their potential.
• Help prepare for external exams by working through past papers in the structured revision schedule where applicable.
• Aid in duties such as testing children, substituting for absent teachers, organizing lunch and bus runs, traffic control and other administrative tasks assigned by school management.
• Take part in activity plans for events such as art, open house and physical education with the student life coordinator.
• Attend training sessions requested by school management and carry out other delegated tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related subject.
• Leadership and team management skills.

• Organizational and self-management skills, goal orientation and problem-solving abilities.
• Dependability and readiness to go above and beyond.
• Meets state and/or federal education and certification requirements, and passes criminal background and reference checks and any required skills test.
