About the role
The Lifting Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety and regulatory compliance of all lifting equipment and operations across on‑shore and off‑shore sites. This role provides technical support to crane engineers and oversees critical lifting activities in the oil & gas sector.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise regularly with relevant bodies and personnel to guarantee lifting equipment and operation integrity.
- Ensure regulatory compliance through the Integrity Assurance Process.
- Define examination strategies and inspection plans for lifting equipment.
- Verify and audit lifting operations and equipment, feeding lessons learned back into processes.
- Support crane engineers and operations teams with technical expertise for on‑site lifting equipment and operations.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience supervising site lifting operations, maintenance, inspection and load testing for on‑shore/off‑shore equipment.
- Proven ability to prepare lifting plans and supervise critical lifts in oil & gas projects.
- Experience managing competency verification of lifting teams (appointed person, supervisor, crane operator, rigger).
- Capability to conduct incident investigations related to lifting activities.
- Professional certifications: at least four diplomas plus entry exam from LEEA‑UK, CPCS A61 Appointed Person certification, TPI audit certification.
- Strong knowledge of international standards (API, ASME, BS, ISO, DIN, DNV, LR, LOLER) and local statutory regulations.
- Up‑to‑date with health & safety guidelines and proven QA/QC experience.
Required skills
- Offshore pedestal cranes, gantry cranes, runway beams, mobile cranes, crawler cranes.
- Forklifts, winches, electric hoists, pull lifts, chain blocks.
- Wire rope slings, webbing slings, chain slings, shackles, eye bolts, lifeboat davits, containers/baskets.
- Lifting plan preparation and execution.
- Load testing and inspection of lifting equipment.
- Competency verification of lifting personnel.
- Incident investigation and root‑cause analysis.
- Computer software applications for reporting and data management.
- QA/QC procedures and documentation.
- Knowledge of API, ASME, BS, ISO, DIN, DNV, LR, LOLER standards.
