Malware Research Analyst | Reverse Engineering Specialist

About the role

A full-time, mid-to-senior level Malware Research Analyst / Reverse Engineering Specialist is sought to investigate malicious software, analyse suspicious code and identify advanced cyber threats through reverse engineering. The role works closely with cybersecurity researchers, incident response teams, threat intelligence analysts and security engineers to examine malware samples, understand malicious behaviour and turn technical findings into defensive recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse malware samples, suspicious executables, scripts and potentially unwanted software, both statically and dynamically
• Reverse engineer suspicious software and examine binaries, libraries and scripts for malicious components
• Run malware in isolated lab environments and study persistence, privilege escalation and C&C infrastructure
• Identify IOCs (hashes, domains, IPs, registry entries) and analyse malware communication and delivery methods
• Research ransomware, trojans, spyware, rootkits and botnets, and their obfuscation, packing and anti-analysis techniques
• Use debugging and disassembly tools, and analyse APIs, system calls and network traffic
• Write technical reports, extract IOCs, support incident response and help build detection rules and YARA rules
• Collaborate with threat intelligence teams, share findings and recommend improvements to security controls

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security or Software Engineering
• Experience in malware analysis, reverse engineering, threat research or cybersecurity investigation
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to write technical reports
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with incident response and research teams
• Relevant certifications are advantageous

Required skills

• Windows, Linux and other OS architectures; PE, ELF and Mach-O formats
• At least one language such as Python, C, C++, C# or Assembly
• IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, WinDbg, x64dbg, GDB, LLDB, Wireshark
• Static and dynamic analysis, sandboxing, MITRE ATT&CK, YARA rules
