Manager, Construction Quantum

About the role

Secretariat is hiring a Manager, Construction Quantum for its Dubai office. The role supports testifying Expert Witnesses in construction disputes, with the aim of progressing to being a testifying expert yourself. It suits a quantity surveying professional with 5-10 years' experience on construction and engineering projects, ideally with prior work with an Expert Witness.

Key responsibilities

• Support world-renowned Quantum experts in dispute resolution, litigation support and expert witness evidence
• Perform data research, management and analysis, and help draft sections of expert reports
• Review drawings, specifications, reports, estimates, variations, correspondence and financial data to identify key details and metrics
• Assist in analysis or preparation of valuations and the use of big data
• Manage the workload and tasks of the project team
• Manage budgets and fee reports
• Deal with clients and lawyers and interface as appropriate
• Prepare robust appendices for expert reports

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in building construction, engineering, quantity surveying or a related field
• 5-10 years' experience in quantity surveying, cost engineering, contracts management or construction management
• Prior experience working with Expert Witnesses
• Experience preparing first-principles construction cost estimates and writing or contributing to Quantum Expert reports
• Excellent written and verbal English; other languages an advantage
• Able to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure and travel domestically and internationally occasionally

Required skills

• MS Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
• CostX, BIM, Buildsoft or Expert Estimation, or similar
• Familiarity with construction cost management
