Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

SDV Consulting Engineers, which provides FEED, EPCM, PMC, commissioning and advisory services for the industrial sector, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer. The role covers the design, coordination and preparation of mechanical building services drawings and calculations for engineering consultancy projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting and other mechanical systems in line with UAE regulations, Abu Dhabi codes and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, storm water and ventilation.
• Carry out engineering calculations such as cooling loads, pressure loss and pipe sizing, and propose equipment solutions.
• Develop design reports, specifications, BOQs and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with Abu Dhabi building codes, DMT, civil defence and international mechanical codes.
• Coordinate projects, review designs and provide technical solutions.
• Prepare authority approvals.
• Develop designs using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP and BIM.
• Maintain accuracy of drawings and calculations through quality assurance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; an equivalency certificate is preferred.
• At least 10 years of mechanical design experience in engineering consultancy.
• Proven experience on industrial and steel structure projects.
• DMT professional engineer status preferred.
• Valid UAE driving licence.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP and BIM.
• Strong analytical problem solving, communication and technical reporting skills.
• Ability to manage several projects at once, with high attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of local regulations and international standards.
