Mechanical Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to perform preventive, breakdown and shutdown maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring production, quality and safety standards are met. The role involves routine upkeep, major overhauls and continuous improvement of mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Execute routine and preventive maintenance tasks, replace worn parts and conduct test runs to guarantee safe operation.
• Perform major equipment overhauls, verify clearances, and determine part usage or replacement to maintain equipment availability.
• Diagnose complex mechanical faults and implement corrective actions.
• Inspect and test completed work to confirm efficient performance according to specifications.
• Prepare detailed daily activity reports covering fault causes, work performed, materials, labour and time spent.
• Identify and procure required spare parts and tools for maintenance activities.
• Carry out new installations, modifications and testing of equipment following plans and supervisor instructions.
• Update maintenance records, drawings and documentation, and contribute to method statements and near‑miss reporting.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma or Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in a relevant mechanical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.
• Ability to work independently, follow safety procedures and maintain accurate records.
