Mechanical Technician

About the role

JW Marriott Al Forsan in Abu Dhabi is hiring a full-time, non-management Mechanical Technician within its Engineering & Facilities function. The technician responds to guest repair requests, performs preventive maintenance and carries out complex MEP repairs with little or no supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with minimal supervision
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect them
• Carry equipment, identify and operate shut-off valves, and maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts through approved channels
• Read blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC, and troubleshoot hotel MEP systems
• Perform complex repairs on air conditioners, refrigeration, pool heaters, pumps, motors, electrical and plumbing equipment, and use the Lockout/Tagout system
• Train and mentor other engineers and perform Engineer on Duty duties including readings and rounds
• Follow safety and security policies, complete safety training, and treat guests courteously

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background preferred
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience preferred
• Extensive experience in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory and requisition, and painting preferred
• Valid driver's license
• No supervisory experience required

Required skills

• CFC certification and compliance with applicable state and federal certification/licensing requirements
• Advanced ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
• Proficiency in at least three of: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, general building management
• Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management
