Medical Laboratory Technologist - Histopathology (Level 1)

About the role

Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai is hiring one Medical Laboratory Technologist for Histopathology (Level 1). The main purpose of the role is to perform routine laboratory tests in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, record and sort histopathology samples according to professional standards
• Perform routine histopathology services on surgical specimens, including tissue dehydration, clearing, paraffin impregnation, tissue cutting and slide staining
• Prepare solutions, stains and reagents following standard procedures
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives focused on risk mitigation, compliance governance and patient safety
• Guide and support training and health and safety initiatives where needed
• Operate, calibrate and monitor laboratory equipment, including general hygiene and sharpening and honing of microtome knives
• Handle general stock management and ordering

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory sciences or a related field
• At least 3-5 years of full-time experience as a medical laboratory technologist in Anatomic Pathology

Required skills

• Maintenance of instrumentation according to manufacturer guidelines
• Knowledge of approved international accreditation standards or equivalent
• Quality control checks, instrumentation troubleshooting and laboratory information systems and reporting
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
• Understanding and following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
