Medical Records Assistant

About the role

Royal Khalifa City Hospital Abu Dhabi is hiring a Medical Records Assistant. The role covers the filing, retrieval and maintenance of medical records for all patients, including appointment and walk-in records, and supporting administrative and insurance purposes.

Key responsibilities

• Receive records from the filing rack on request and retrieve them for patient care, appointments, walk-ins and insurance/administrative purposes.
• Write tracer cards and save requests in the hospital management system (HMS) before retrieving records, and trace wrongly filed records.
• Enter details of missing records in the Missing File Register and file returned records after logging them in HMS.
• Check pending unreturned records periodically and report to the supervisor; keep the department and filing area neat and clean.
• Shift and arrange files in the rack, answer incoming calls promptly and work evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, EHSMS, HAAD, JCI and ISO policies, and support continuous quality improvement and in-service training.
• Maintain confidentiality, follow OSH and waste management procedures, and take part in emergency and evacuation drills.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent; experience is not required.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English; knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
• Good interpersonal skills, effective communication and respect for hospital policies and procedures.
