MEP Coordinator

About the role

The MEP Coordinator coordinates Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing works across the project lifecycle, integrating them with architectural, structural and construction activities. The role covers design review, shop drawing coordination, technical interface management and compliance with project specifications, for mid-rise and high-rise building projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate MEP activities with Architectural, Structural and other disciplines, and attend and lead coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Review MEP drawings, specifications, calculations and technical submissions, and identify and resolve design clashes and constructability issues.
• Coordinate shop drawings, builders' work drawings and as-built drawings, and oversee their preparation, review, approval and distribution.
• Track project schedules, design submissions, RFIs, technical queries and deliverables; coordinate material and technical submittals and consultant approvals.
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, building codes, project specifications and safety standards, and conduct quality checks on design deliverables.
• Support inspections, commissioning and project handover, and liaise with consultants, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Monitor MEP progress against milestones, support site teams and help project managers resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 6-8 years of experience in MEP coordination on construction projects, including mid-rise and high-rise buildings.
• Experience with MEP contractors, developers, consultants or main contractors; UAE/GCC experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of local authority regulations, codes and standards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of MEP systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, fire alarm, ELV and BMS.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM tools, Microsoft Office and HAP; Navisworks preferred.
• Clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
