Neonatologist Specialist

About the role

Royal Women Hospital Abu Dhabi is recruiting a Specialist in Neonatology. The specialist provides comprehensive, professional and ethical clinical care to newborns, manages clinical risks, ensures compliance with clinical governance and quality standards, and acts as first on-call for the neonatology service.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and reassess patients, perform examinations and procedures across the full scope of neonatology, and order laboratory tests and X-rays
• Determine diagnoses, prescribe nursing and dietary care, and order or apply preventive measures
• Provide onsite inpatient care to admitted newborns and attend deliveries and caesarean sections on the duty roster, including day and night shifts
• Serve as first on-call for neonatology and provide emergency coverage, consulting other specialties (pediatric surgery and OB/GYN) as needed
• Review adverse events, problem incidents and complaints with senior staff and recommend improvements to quality of care
• Maintain accurate medical records, monitor clinical risks and ensure compliance with clinical governance standards
• Commit to continuous professional development and carry out other assigned duties within the scope of the position

Required profile

• At least 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience at specialist level (independent of country)
• At least 1 year of specialist-level experience from a Tier 1 country as defined by the UAE healthcare regulator
• Certification and registration in a specialty recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority

Required skills

• Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
• Ability to work in a shift pattern, including day and night shifts
