NICU Registered Nurse

About the role

Royal Hospital Sharjah is recruiting a Registered Nurse for its NICU in Sharjah. The nurse provides and coordinates care for critically ill, unconscious or ventilated neonates, monitors their vital signs and hemodynamics, and works with physicians and other specialists to deliver safe, evidence-based care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess neonates, determine nursing diagnoses and create and evaluate care plans with the interprofessional team
• Monitor vital signs, hemodynamics and oxygenation, record patient condition and escalate abnormalities to medical staff
• Perform basic life support and neonatal resuscitation, including assisting in resuscitating an asphyxiated newborn
• Administer medications, IV fluids and blood products, and provide wound care
• Prepare patients for procedures, assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures and support safe admission, transfer and discharge
• Educate families on growth, development, feeding, disease, medication, pain management and breastfeeding, and support them during bereavement
• Maintain equipment, check stock and inventory, and respond promptly to code situations
• Keep accurate documentation in the EMR and physical flow charts, and follow unit scope of service

Required profile

• Valid license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority, with the qualifications and experience required
• Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card
• Ability to manage own professional re-licensure
• Willingness to work across departments and on call when necessary
