Occupational Therapist

About the role

A client of Black Pearl Consult in Abu Dhabi, which is part of one of the UAE's largest government-affiliated healthcare networks, is looking for a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist. The therapist helps patients of all ages regain independence and improve their ability to carry out daily activities after illness, injury or disability. Experience with pediatric patients is highly preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, cognitive and emotional abilities to determine therapy needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and rehabilitation programmes to improve daily living and occupational skills.
• Provide therapy using evidence-based techniques, adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
• Educate patients, families and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive strategies and home programmes.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans and keep accurate records.
• Support patients in adapting to work, school and home environments after injury or illness.
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection control and quality standards, and stay up to date on occupational therapy practices and rehabilitation technology.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
• Valid UAE licence to practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
• At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience; pediatric exposure preferred.
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, rehabilitation practices and assistive technologies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient counselling skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
