Operations Manufacturing Manager / Factory Manager / Production Director

About the role

The Operations Manufacturing Manager / Factory Manager / Production Director oversees overall factory operations, manufacturing activities, production performance and operational management to deliver efficient, cost-effective and high-quality manufacturing. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across production, engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, warehouse and supply chain functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement manufacturing strategies, operational plans and production objectives aligned with business goals.
• Oversee daily factory operations so that production schedules, output targets, quality standards and delivery commitments are met.
• Manage production planning, capacity utilization, manpower allocation, workflow optimization and manufacturing resources.
• Lead cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, productivity, equipment utilization and overall factory performance.
• Monitor KPIs such as production output, yield, efficiency, downtime, scrap rate and operating costs.
• Drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma and TPM.
• Establish cost control strategies to reduce manufacturing expenses and material waste.
• Coordinate production, engineering, maintenance, quality, procurement and logistics, and maintain product quality and compliance with standards and quality management systems.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, facility management, production infrastructure and operational safety.
• Develop SOPs, operational policies and performance management systems; manage factory budgets and operational expenditure.
• Identify operational risks, resolve bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Support automation, digital transformation, technology upgrades and capacity expansion projects.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, environmental standards and industry requirements.
• Lead, develop and motivate departmental managers, supervisors, engineers and production personnel.
• Prepare operational reports, performance reviews, business forecasts and strategic recommendations for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of factory management, manufacturing operations, production systems and industrial management principles.
• Understanding of production planning, capacity management, workflow optimization and resource allocation.
• Knowledge of production cost analysis, budgeting, financial management and operational performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, MES and production management software.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, decision-making and problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
