Opto-Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Opto-Mechanical Engineer will design and develop precision opto‑mechanical systems that retain optical performance under structural, thermal, vibration and environmental loads. This role involves creating robust components, lens assemblies and mechanical subsystems using advanced CAD and analysis tools.

Key responsibilities

• Develop opto‑mechanical concepts and detailed 3D CAD models for new systems.
• Perform tolerance, thermal, structural, vibration and optical analyses using simulation software.
• Document designs, prepare technical data packs and support testing of components and assemblies.
• Participate in design reviews, troubleshoot issues and drive product improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Opto‑Mechanical Engineering or a related field (master’s degree advantageous).
• Minimum three years of experience designing and developing opto‑mechanical systems.
• Proven ability to assess mechanical loads and environmental effects on optical performance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
• Experience with engineering simulation tools (ANSYS, FEA).
• Familiarity with optical modelling software (Zemax preferred).
• Knowledge of material properties, fabrication methods and design for manufacturability.
