Optomechanical Engineer

About the role

EDGE is seeking an experienced Opto‑Mechanical Design Engineer to create high‑performance opto‑mechanical components and systems for advanced optical applications. The role involves concept development, analysis, prototyping and design validation using cutting‑edge 3D CAD and simulation tools.

Key responsibilities

• Use 3D CAD software to develop opto‑mechanical concepts and precision assemblies.
• Conduct tolerance, thermal, structural and optical analyses with appropriate engineering tools.
• Generate and maintain data packs and documentation for designed components.
• Participate in design reviews, troubleshoot issues and support production teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in opto‑mechanical systems design and development.
• Proven ability to lead design initiatives from concept through production.
• Excellent communication, documentation and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Experience using simulation platforms such as ANSYS and FEA software.
• Knowledge of structural, mechanical, thermal and vibration analysis.
• Familiarity with optical modelling tools (Zemax is a plus).
• Understanding of material properties, fabrication techniques and design for manufacturability.
