Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)

About the role

Careers International is hiring a full-time Oracle Database Administrator in Dubai. The role covers planning, implementing and maintaining in-house database environments, providing 24x7 support and keeping databases available through monitoring, tuning and backups.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, test and maintain in-house database environments; set up and configure database engines for development, testing and production.
• Provide 24x7 support for day-to-day database activities, resolving or escalating operational incidents quickly.
• Monitor the database proactively to prevent incidents and maximize availability, and tune performance regularly, including table structure and indexes.
• Develop and run scripts for database task scheduling, monitoring and maintenance.
• Generate weekly reports on database status, including tablespace, disk space and table row counts, and use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 12c cloud for monitoring and management.
• Manage database backup and restore operations to protect data integrity and availability.

Required profile

• Proficiency administering Unix OS and strong knowledge of Unix shell scripting.
• Experience with PL/SQL development.
• Familiarity with Oracle-related tools and technologies.
• Experience with Oracle Data Guard, with or without broker.
• Preferably holds OCA / OCP certification or equivalent.
