Outreach Officer – Participant Recruitment & Specimen Management

About the role

The Outreach Officer plays a pivotal role in the Pan Human Biobank by driving participant recruitment and managing the full lifecycle of biological specimens. This position ensures ethical, culturally appropriate engagement while maintaining the highest standards of biosafety, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead ethical participant recruitment, eligibility screening, informed consent and ongoing support.
• Build and sustain relationships with participants, healthcare providers, and external stakeholders.
• Plan and deliver outreach, education, and community awareness activities.
• Maintain accurate recruitment and participant records in LIMS and other systems.
• Receive, verify, label, and document specimens, ensuring proper chain‑of‑custody.
• Perform pre‑analytical processing, cold‑chain management and specimen storage according to SOPs.
• Support quality, inventory, and compliance activities, including audits and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, Healthcare Management or a related field.
• Experience in participant engagement, specimen handling or biobanking is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Specimen processing and cold‑chain management.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and biosafety protocols.
• Data integrity and confidentiality handling.
