PE Secondary Teacher

About the role

The school is seeking an enthusiastic Physical Education teacher for secondary boys. The role involves planning and delivering engaging, differentiated PE lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum and the school’s programme. The teacher will also contribute to the wider sports programme and extracurricular activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver challenging, differentiated PE lessons for secondary boys, aligning with the school’s curriculum and the National Curriculum for England.
• Develop students’ physical skills, tactical understanding, fitness, confidence and enjoyment of sport while providing appropriate challenge and support for varied abilities.
• Assess, record and monitor student attainment, provide constructive feedback, and use data to identify strengths, gaps and required interventions.
• Coach and develop school teams, organise fixtures, tournaments and training sessions, and support inter‑school competitions.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing during all PE activities, conduct safety checks of facilities and equipment, and follow safeguarding and health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Physical Education.
• Passion and enthusiasm for physical education and sport, with high expectations of student achievement and behaviour.
• Excellent classroom management and coaching skills, able to motivate and inspire secondary boys.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to differentiate effectively for varying abilities.
• Commitment to inclusion, student wellbeing, safeguarding and continuous professional development.
