PE Teacher

About the role

This PE teacher position covers a tutor group of students and combines teaching, pastoral care and tutor-group leadership. The school follows the ISP principles of safeguarding, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Teach PE with strong subject knowledge, stretching the most able learners at KS5 and preparing students for exam specifications
• Plan learning using contextual data, adapt practice to ensure progress, and give appropriate challenge to more able and talented learners
• Support learners with additional learning needs, English as an additional language and English Language Learners while maintaining high expectations
• Use formative and summative assessments, mark work according to the school marking policy and track attainment and progress
• Communicate regularly with parents through reports, parents' evenings and individual contact
• Contribute to faculty resources and create a warm, caring, academically driven classroom with a positive learning environment
• Look after the emotional and social development of the tutor group, monitoring attendance, punctuality and behaviour
• Deliver PERMA lessons and Moral, Social and Cultural lessons during tutor time, attend assemblies and work with the Head of Year
• Safeguard the welfare of children, cover for absent colleagues, run an extracurricular club for at least two terms, take part in school events and improvement plans, and follow a break-time and lunch-time rota

Required profile

• Good honours degree
• QTS or PGCE teaching qualification, preferably from the UK
• At least two years of teaching experience
• Experience teaching relevant UK curricula
• ICPC and UK enhanced DBS (or equivalent) police check
• Willingness to contribute to departmental resources, whole-school enrichment and the wider curriculum
