Planning Engineer

About the role

Waagner Biro Bridge Services is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to lead scheduling activities for road bridge, roads and infrastructure projects primarily in Abu Dhabi, with occasional work in Al Ain. The role involves creating, monitoring and updating detailed project schedules to ensure timely delivery in line with client and authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, update and monitor detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 (primary) and MS Project (secondary).
• Prepare cost‑loaded and resource‑loaded programs, change logs, KPIs and extension‑of‑time (EOT) analyses.
• Coordinate with site engineers, procurement and subcontractors to align work with the baseline schedule and identify major risks.
• Produce look‑ahead programs, progress reports and recovery plans when delays occur.
• Conduct site visits in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to verify actual progress against planned timelines.
• Integrate project milestones with authority approval processes, traffic diversion plans and permit requirements.
• Analyze critical path, float and resource allocation to optimise timelines.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide schedule updates to management and clients.
• Support claim preparation and delay impact assessments, including TIA and window analysis.
• Maintain up‑to‑date project documentation and ensure compliance with planning guidelines.

Required profile

• Civil Engineering degree.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on bridge and road projects in the UAE, preferably with Abu Dhabi exposure.
• Strong knowledge of local authority procedures and standards.
• Proven ability to prepare schedules, reports, mitigation plans and track progress.
