PLC & SCADA Engineer for Water & Wastewater Plants

About the role

The PLC & SCADA Engineer will design, program, test, commission, troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities in Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Design PLC control systems, develop software, and configure SCADA/HMI applications according to project specifications.
• Prepare control philosophies, I/O lists, network architecture, and automation documentation; review P&IDs and electrical drawings.
• Develop PLC programs for treatment processes and configure communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC).
• Create graphical SCADA screens, alarms, event logging, trending, reporting and user security levels.
• Perform FAT and SAT, commission systems on site, conduct I/O testing, loop checking and support plant start‑up.
• Coordinate with instrumentation, electrical and mechanical teams and integrate field devices such as flow meters, pressure transmitters and analyzers.
• Produce functional design specifications, operation manuals, commissioning reports and as‑built documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–8 years of industrial automation experience, with at least 5 years on water or wastewater treatment projects.
• Hands‑on experience with PLC platforms (Siemens S7‑1200/1500/TIA Portal, S7‑300/400, Allen‑Bradley Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Omron).
• Proficiency in SCADA platforms (Siemens WinCC, WinCC Unified, FactoryTalk View, Weintek, etc.).
• Knowledge of instrumentation devices and industrial networking.

Required skills

• PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Omron).
• SCADA development (WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Weintek).
• Communication protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC.
• Automation system design, process control and commissioning.
• Industrial networking and electrical troubleshooting.
