PLC & SCADA Engineer

About the role

The PLC & SCADA Engineer will design, program, test, commission, troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment plants. The role ensures reliable plant operation and compliance with project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Design PLC control systems, develop software, and configure SCADA/HMI applications for plant monitoring and control.
• Develop PLC programs using communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP and OPC.
• Create graphical SCADA screens, configure alarms, event logging, historical trending and user security.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), commission systems on site and support plant start‑up.
• Interface with field instruments (flow meters, pressure, level, pH, conductivity, DO, turbidity, chlorine analyzers) and coordinate with electrical/mechanical teams.
• Prepare functional design specifications, operation manuals, commissioning reports, as‑built documentation and backup programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–8 years of industrial automation experience, with at least 5 years in water or wastewater treatment projects.
• Strong knowledge of PLC platforms (Siemens S7‑1200/1500/TIA Portal, S7‑300/400, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, Omron).
• Experience with SCADA platforms (Siemens WinCC, WinCC Unified, FactoryTalk View, WINCC SCADA).
• Familiarity with HMI hardware (Siemens Comfort Panels, Weintek) and engineering tools (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office).
