PLC & SCADA Engineer - Water & Wastewater Treatment

About the role

Burjline Builders is looking for a PLC & SCADA Engineer in Dubai to design, programme, test, commission, troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment plants. The role integrates instrumentation, electrical systems, VFDs, analyzers and field devices to ensure reliable plant operation and compliance with project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Design PLC control systems, develop PLC software and configure SCADA and HMI applications according to project specifications and functional design documents.
• Prepare control philosophies, I/O lists, network architecture and automation documentation, and review P&IDs, electrical and control panel drawings.
• Develop PLC programs for treatment processes, configure communication protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC), and build graphical SCADA screens with alarms, event logging, trending, reporting and user access controls.
• Integrate PLCs with SCADA servers and perform FAT, SAT, I/O testing, loop checking and troubleshooting, supporting plant start-up.
• Interface with flow meters, pressure, level, pH, conductivity, DO, turbidity, chlorine and other analyzers, and coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams.
• Produce functional design specifications, operation manuals, commissioning reports, as-built documentation, backups of PLC and SCADA programs and technical reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3-8 years of experience in industrial automation, with at least 5 years on water or wastewater treatment projects.
• Preferred: experience with WWTP, STP, WTP, RO, UF/MBR, pumping stations, industrial water treatment, desalination plants.
• Preferred certifications: Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric, ISA CAP; valid UAE driving licence.
