Postdoctoral Associate - Data Analytics, Economics

About the role

New York University Abu Dhabi is looking for a Postdoctoral Associate in Data Analytics for Economics, supervised by Professor Samreen Malik. The post-doc joins a research team studying human capital development, climate and sustainable development, with topics such as air quality and student health, children's sleep and academic achievement, and water-saving technology in low-income households. The post-doc will work full-time as co-author on Dr. Malik's projects and help build partnerships between the university and public and private entities in the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Provide data analytics and research analysis support to Dr. Malik and her team
• Assist with data management, including big data, data mining and database support and development
• Support and advise on data visualization
• Foster relationships with UAE public and private entities and support researchers with coding and algorithm development
• Conduct training and engage with students on senior theses (graduate and undergraduate)
• Work on individualized research projects under faculty supervision, from initial stages through to completion

Required profile

• PhD in Economics, Engineering, Computational Science, Statistics, Computational Social Science or equivalent
• Experience in research environments and in higher education research institutions
• Preferred: project management of application development projects
• UAE nationals are encouraged to apply; the position is part of the NYUAD Kawader fellowship program
