Power Electronic Design Engineer (Engineer II, SIL)

About the role

EDGE Group is seeking a senior Power Electronic Design Engineer (Engineer II, SIL) to lead the design, simulation and testing of power conversion devices for automotive and defense applications. The role involves translating customer requirements into robust hardware solutions and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate and test DC/DC, DC/AC converters, SMPS, inverters and motor drives.
• Create schematic and PCB layouts using Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics or KiCAD.
• Develop hardware across the full product lifecycle, including component selection, thermal management, EMI/EMC compliance and reliability verification.
• Support prototyping, testing, troubleshooting and system‑level integration.
• Document designs and ensure compliance with IPC and MIL‑STD standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 7‑10 years of experience in power electronics hardware development, preferably in automotive or defense sectors.
• Hands‑on, work‑bench mindset with ability to thrive in high‑pressure environments.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Power conversion device design (DC/DC, DC/AC, SMPS, inverters, motor drives).
• Electrical/electronic CAD tools: Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics, KiCAD.
• EMI/EMC design practices and compliance.
• Knowledge of IPC‑2220, IPC‑A‑600, IPC‑6012B, IPC‑A‑610 (or equivalent MIL‑STD).
• Firmware development and reverse engineering of electronic hardware.
