About the role
The Power Supply Technician will join the Dubai Metro power supply team to deliver preventive and corrective maintenance on high‑voltage traction power, LV systems, sub‑stations and emergency power equipment. Working under the Team Leader, you will ensure reliable operation of the power supply network that keeps the metro running safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Power Supply Team Leader with preventive and corrective maintenance, minor modifications and testing of HV traction power supplies, stray‑current/EMC monitoring, sub‑stations, LV systems, UPS, main switches and wayside isolators.
- Diagnose electrical or mechanical faults, replace defective components and coordinate repairs with the workshop.
- Conduct periodic electrical, stress and functional tests on motor‑control devices, switch panels, transformers, circuit breakers, gas‑insulated switches, generator windings and solenoids.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition before and after each job.
- Record all maintenance actions, equipment performance and test results in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Support the implementation of complex system upgrades or new projects as required.
- Provide shift, emergency and first‑line response coverage when needed.
Required profile
- Good eyesight with normal colour vision.
- Valid driving licence and safe driving experience.
- Ability to produce clear technical reports, method statements and simple drawings.
- Strong organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Required skills
- Use and calibration of electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance of power supply systems.
- Electrical troubleshooting of HV (750 V DC) traction and LV distribution networks.
- Knowledge of 132 kV/33 kV GIS, transformers, reactors, condensers, earthing transformers and high‑speed DC circuit breakers.
- Testing of sub‑station equipment, UPS, motor‑control devices, switch panels, circuit breakers, gas‑insulated switches, generator windings and solenoids.
