Primary Teacher - Maternity Cover (January 2027)

About the role

GEMS Al Barsha National School in Dubai is seeking a Primary Teacher for a maternity cover starting in January 2027. The school combines the British curriculum with a strong focus on UAE national identity, values and culture, and offers a supportive, collaborative environment. The teacher plans and delivers lessons, creates an inclusive classroom, works with colleagues to keep learning continuous during the cover period and takes part in co-curricular activities and school events.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the school's curriculum
• Assess, record and report on student progress
• Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan units of work and share best practice
• Communicate with parents about students' progress and well-being
• Take part in co-curricular activities, school events and relevant committees
• Uphold the school's core values and policies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education (or equivalent teaching qualification), or a bachelor's degree with a recognised teaching certification or licence
• At least two years of teaching experience in a relevant subject and age group
• Previous experience teaching the National Curriculum for England is highly desirable; experience in an international school is an advantage
• UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check required before appointment
