Principal Consultant - Aviation (Airport Planning)

About the role

WSP is looking for a Principal Consultant to lead concept‑level airport planning, functional spatial design, and multidisciplinary coordination across major aviation projects in the Middle East. The role focuses on delivering innovative, efficient, and sustainable airport solutions that improve operational performance and passenger experience.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of the Concept of Operations for DWC Phase 2 and related project scopes.
• Lead analytical assessments of airport operations, including traffic profiles, flight schedules, dwell times and KPIs.
• Produce capacity and Level of Service assessments for terminals, airside, apron, landside and support facilities.
• Develop multi‑scenario demand forecasts for passengers, aircraft, cargo and GA operations.
• Build and operate simulation models (CAST, AirTOP, AviPlan or equivalents) to evaluate flow performance and resilience.
• Translate model outputs into actionable recommendations for planning decisions.
• Contribute to airport masterplans and long‑term strategic frameworks with evidence‑based inputs.
• Define functional and spatial requirements and evaluate planning options, phasing strategies and performance trade‑offs.
• Engage with airport operators, airlines, regulators and internal teams to align planning criteria.

Required profile

• Minimum 96 months (8 years) of experience in airport planning, analytics or related aviation consultancy.
• Proven ability to lead complex analytical assessments and deliver strategic recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills with experience working with operators, airlines and regulators.
