Principal Consultant – Development Engineering & Investment Screening

About the role

The Principal Consultant will lead the end‑to‑end evaluation of new gas and LNG investment opportunities and oversee the governance of non‑operated assets. Reporting to the Business Development function, the role supports both Business Development and Asset Management teams to protect and enhance shareholder value while meeting HSE and ESG expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support technical screening of new investment opportunities, including acquisitions, farm‑ins and infrastructure access.
• Assess development concepts, execution strategies, cost estimates, schedules and risk profiles presented by counterparties or operators.
• Provide clear value‑driver analysis and risk mitigation recommendations to internal investment committees.
• Act as senior investor representative on non‑operated joint ventures, reviewing work programmes, budgets, production forecasts and capital projects.
• Ensure robust governance, assurance and escalation of material technical, HSE, cost or schedule risks.
• Apply engineering judgement to challenge design basis, concept selection and execution plans, preventing value erosion.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, emissions reduction, asset life extension and overall value uplift.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in gas or LNG project development, investment screening or asset management.
• Proven ability to evaluate technical, commercial and regulatory aspects of large‑scale energy projects.
• Strong understanding of HSE, ESG and risk management frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical findings to senior stakeholders.
