Principal Data Scientist

About the role

The Principal Data Scientist will lead the development and deployment of advanced machine‑learning solutions that power personalized customer decisioning. This role blends hands‑on technical work with leadership to deliver scalable models, robust pipelines, and high‑impact insights across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and deployment of advanced machine‑learning models for personalized customer decisioning.
• Build and maintain production‑grade ML pipelines using Airflow, MLflow or Kubeflow, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into data‑driven solutions.
• Implement monitoring, drift detection and alerting systems with tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Integrate GenAI components like LLMs, embeddings and vector databases into decisioning workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Econometrics, Computer Science, Statistics).
• At least 10 years of experience as a senior data scientist, preferably in the banking sector.
• Proven expertise in propensity modeling, uplift modeling and causal inference.
• Hands‑on leadership experience guiding senior data scientists while remaining technically involved.

Required skills

• Expert‑level Python programming; familiarity with R or Scala.
• Distributed computing frameworks: Spark, Dask, Ray.
• ML pipeline tools: Airflow, MLflow, Kubeflow.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
• SQL query optimization and large‑scale data handling.
• Model deployment via APIs, Kafka or Flink; experience with SageMaker or Vertex AI.
• Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Evidently.
• GenAI technologies: LLMs, embeddings, FAISS, Pinecone.
