Principal Engineer - Aerodynamics & Missiles

About the role

EDGE's Advanced Concepts unit, based in Abu Dhabi, designs and deploys advanced technologies including autonomous systems, precision loitering munitions, cruise missiles and guided artillery munitions. This Principal Engineer role covers the design, analysis and optimisation of missiles, spanning aerodynamics, structures, flight dynamics, controls, propulsion and stability, and leads conceptual design and performance studies such as high-speed aerodynamics, heat transfer and store separation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, performance evaluation and optimisation of missiles, including fuselage, wings and control surfaces.
• Incorporate structural and aerodynamic considerations into the design process.
• Apply knowledge of applied aerodynamics, flight dynamics and control theory to guide design projects.
• Contribute technically to the chief engineer and mentor Engineers, Engineer I and Engineer II.

Required profile

• Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years in the UAS industry, including 5+ years in a senior or team lead role.
• Mandatory knowledge of guided weapons and missile technology.
• English proficiency required.

Required skills

• Preferred: MS Office, MATLAB, CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Preferred: low-fidelity tools (DATCOM) and advanced simulations (ANSYS Fluent).
• Preferred: jet propulsion, missile conceptual design, control theory and HPC cluster experience for CFD and CHT.
