Principal Engineer – Embedded Software

About the role

ADVANCED CONCEPTS, an entity within EDGE, designs and deploys cutting‑edge autonomous systems such as high‑altitude UAVs, loitering munitions and cruise missiles. The role leads the architecture and development of complex embedded software for these high‑technology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and design complex embedded systems with real‑time constraints, power and resource limits.
• Develop and maintain bare‑metal firmware for Cortex‑M microcontrollers (STM32, NXP LPC, Microchip PIC).
• Implement and support RTOS‑based firmware using FreeRTOS, mbed or ThreadX.
• Write Linux drivers and kernel modules for custom hardware and debug using GDB, ST‑Link or Segger J‑Link.
• Develop user‑space multimedia applications using V4L2, GStreamer and FFmpeg.
• Optimize software on NVIDIA Jetson platforms with JetPack SDK (CUDA, cuDNN, TensorRT).
• Integrate communication protocols (I2C, UART, SPI, CAN) in both Linux and microcontroller environments.
• Participate in code reviews, enforce coding standards and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic or Software Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in embedded software engineering using C/C++.
• Strong knowledge of ARM64 and Cortex‑M architectures.
• Proven expertise in Linux driver and kernel development.
• Hands‑on experience with bare‑metal firmware and RTOS on microcontrollers.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects and lead technical teams.
