Principal Engineer - Guidance and Control

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the UAE focused on defence and emerging technologies, is looking for an experienced Principal Engineer in Guidance and Control. The role provides technical leadership in developing and implementing advanced guidance and control systems, mentors engineering teams, supports flight testing and verification, and drives the investigation and implementation of future technologies within guided weapon systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of Guidance and Control systems, including G&C algorithms, modelling and simulation, tracking systems, estimation and optimization filters.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers at all levels, supporting technical decision-making, problem-solving and engineering best practices.
• Lead system verification and flight-test activities, including SIL/PIL/HIL testing, pre-flight preparation, flight testing, performance verification and post-flight analysis.
• Establish and advance Guidance and Control capabilities, including engineering tools, laboratories, methodologies and the investigation of emerging technologies and algorithms.

Required profile

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Embedded Systems Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
• 10-15 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in guided weapon systems, missile systems, Guidance and Control or closely related complex systems.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership or management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, guide and mentor engineering teams.
• English proficiency required.

Required skills

• Strong technical expertise in Guidance and Control systems, including algorithms, modelling and simulation, tracking, estimation, optimization and system verification.
• Preferred: experience across the guided weapon system development lifecycle, including SIL/PIL/HIL testing, mission planning, flight testing and post-flight analysis.
• Preferred: experience establishing new technical capabilities, laboratories, tools or advanced G&C methodologies.
