Principal Engineer (Propulsion) - CFD & Rocket Motors

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, is hiring a Principal Engineer (Propulsion) for its Advanced Concepts entity. The role performs CFD simulations and numerical analysis of solid-propellant rocket motors, nozzles, blastpipes and thrust vector control systems to predict flow, combustion, heat transfer and performance. It also covers developing analysis codes, optimizing designs, validating CFD results against experimental data and preparing technical and test reports.

Key responsibilities

• Perform CFD simulations of solid propellant rocket motors, grains, blastpipes, nozzles and thrust vector control systems.
• Predict flow distribution, combustion efficiency, heat transfer, flow ballistics and forces.
• Develop codes for post-test analysis, thrust vector systems and nozzle designs.
• Provide design optimization input based on CFD results.
• Validate numerical results against experimental test data.
• Write reports, mathematical models and test reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years in solid rocket propulsion engineering performing CFD analyses and prediction modelling.
• Master's or PhD in Propulsion or a related field, or Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering with a focus on fluid dynamics.
• English proficiency is required; unsolicited resumes from recruitment agencies are not accepted.

Required skills

• Expertise in CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, CFX, OpenFOAM or similar.
• Preferred: knowledge of solid rocket propulsion design, manufacturing, testing and analysis.
• Preferred: strong understanding of turbulence models, combustion modelling and multiphase flows.
• Preferred: experience in rocket propulsion or high-speed reactive flows.
• Preferred: data analysis tools such as Python or MATLAB.
