Principal Engineer – Systems Integration

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to lead system integration for complex defence communications and command‑and‑control (C2) solutions. The role will span air, land, maritime and joint environments, ensuring seamless hardware, software and network interoperability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integration activities for advanced Defence Communications and C2 systems across multiple domains.
• Define, manage and document system interfaces, interoperability requirements and interface control documents.
• Conduct integration testing, troubleshoot defects, and drive operational readiness.
• Support platform integration trials, field deployments, customer demonstrations and interoperability testing.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, cybersecurity, networking, customers, suppliers and platform teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least 12 years of experience in systems engineering or integration within defence, aerospace, security or other mission‑critical environments.
• Proven track record of integrating complex hardware, software and distributed systems.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and operational platforms.

Required skills

• Defence Communications, C2/C4ISR, Tactical Data Links and Mission Systems.
• Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, routing, messaging and OSI‑layer communications.
• System interoperability, interface management and Systems‑of‑Systems integration.
• Proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink for test and simulation.
• Knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), secure communications and relevant defence standards.
