Principal Forward Deployed Engineer - Technical Program Manager

About the role

Microsoft’s Frontier Company Engineering team is looking for a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer who will also act as a Technical Program Manager. In this senior individual‑contributor position you will embed directly with strategic customers, translate business challenges into technical solutions, and deliver production‑grade outcomes quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Drive customer outcomes by shaping opportunities and turning business needs into actionable technical approaches.
• Design, build, and ship production‑grade solutions within customer environments, owning end‑to‑end execution.
• Accelerate time‑to‑value by operating effectively in ambiguous, fast‑moving contexts and delivering iterative high‑impact solutions.
• Engage and influence senior stakeholders to build trust, align priorities, and guide technical and business decisions.
• Apply industry and customer context to tailor solutions beyond generic approaches.
• Prepare and transition work to Forward Deployed Engineering crews with clear scope and technical direction.
• Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset to navigate complex account dynamics, set boundaries, and drive urgency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Several years of experience in engineering and product/technical program management.
• Proven technical depth and credibility with senior stakeholders.
• Strong ability to work in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments and deliver sustained impact.
• Entrepreneurial attitude with a focus on outcomes and accountability.
