Principal Power Systems Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead the design and delivery of medium‑ and high‑voltage power systems for mission‑critical buildings and infrastructure projects in Dubai. The role combines technical leadership, client advisory, and mentorship of junior engineers within a fast‑growing international consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of MV and HV power systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop power system strategies that deliver resilience, efficiency and long‑term value for clients.
• Manage client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, engineering calculations and design documentation.
• Lead power system studies and network analysis activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in MV/HV power systems engineering and project delivery.
• Background in consultancy, engineering design or specialist power‑systems environments.
• Strong technical knowledge across power distribution and network analysis.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills.

Required skills

• MV and HV electrical network design.
• Power system studies and modelling using ETAP or equivalent software.
• Protection coordination and protection scheme design.
• Load flow, fault level, arc‑flash, harmonic and earthing studies.
• Grid connections and utility interface requirements.
• Standby and emergency generation systems (diesel, HVO, gas or alternative technologies).
• Critical power infrastructure and resilient control systems.
• Electrical equipment specification and technical evaluation.
• Application of IEC, BS and other international electrical standards.
