Principal Software Test Engineer - Embedded Systems & Aviation

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the United Arab Emirates and based in Abu Dhabi, is looking for a highly experienced Principal Software Tester with a strong background in embedded systems and aviation-related software testing. The role leads a team of software testers, ensures adherence to software engineering processes and delivers high-quality testing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the software testing team to deliver test cases and execution on time and accurately.
• Design, write and maintain comprehensive test cases based on software requirements and design documents.
• Execute test cases manually and through automation, covering functional, performance and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with software development and product teams to understand and evaluate software systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards such as RTCA DO-178C, especially in safety-critical software.
• Manage the testing lifecycle from planning, execution, defect reporting to completion.
• Oversee testing in embedded systems and ensure compatibility with avionics or aviation systems.
• Mentor the team, promote test automation and continuous integration, and coordinate with cross-functional teams for system integration and validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics or related field).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in software testing, focused on embedded systems.
• Experience in embedded systems and familiarity with the QT framework; experience with UAV systems is preferred.
• Proven experience in aviation software testing or embedded systems in aerospace applications.
• English proficiency is required.

Required skills

• Writing and executing manual and automated test cases.
• Strong understanding of software engineering processes (requirements, design, development, verification).
• In-depth knowledge of RTCA DO-178C for safety-critical software testing.
• Preferred: technical and line management experience, knowledge of automated testing frameworks, Agile and test-driven development.
