Principal System Engineer – Desert Sting (Guided Weapon)

About the role

The Principal System Engineer – Desert Sting will lead the system engineering program for a guided weapon product, ensuring technical requirements, risk management and traceability are met from concept through operational testing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Engineering Management Plan in collaboration with the Project Manager and design team.
• Define software design requirements, verification tests and ensure full traceability from development to operational test.
• Support systems architecture and transition to modular, open‑software architecture components.
• Manage Earned Value processes, assess technical performance, identify risks and propose mitigations.
• Analyse requirements, create test cases, execute test scripts and generate contract deliverables.
• Produce engineering analyses, reports, change proposals and ensure alignment of product design with system requirements.
• Lead functional safety analysis, write functional requirements and manage technical deliverables schedule.
• Coach junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the office.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electronics or systems engineering.
• 10+ years of system design and development experience on missile programs in a defence environment.
• Proven experience in risk assessment, test and evaluation, and system interface management.
• Demonstrated expertise in traceability, verification management, data‑pack management and change control.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline relevant to defence.
