Principal Traffic Engineer / Traffic Engineering Lead

About the role

An experienced Principal Traffic Engineer / Traffic Engineering Lead is sought to lead and grow the Traffic Engineering practice in Abu Dhabi. The role combines technical leadership, team management, client engagement and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Transportation Master Plans (TMP), Access & Circulation Studies and other traffic engineering studies.
• Develop and review strategic transport models using CUBE Voyager / Abu Dhabi STEAM and PTV Visum.
• Carry out and oversee traffic operational analysis using SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS and related software.
• Lead traffic forecasting, junction and corridor assessments, access planning and development of traffic improvement measures.
• Manage projects through Abu Dhabi authority submission, review and approval processes.
• Lead, mentor and build a team of traffic engineers and transport modellers.
• Manage client relationships and represent the company in technical and commercial meetings.
• Support business development: identify opportunities, prepare proposals, develop scopes and fees and win new work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil / Transportation Engineering or a related discipline; Master's or PhD desirable.
• 15-20 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
• Strong Abu Dhabi / UAE experience and good knowledge of local authority requirements and approval processes.
• Proven experience leading and managing technical teams.
• Strong client management and business development experience, including proposals, tenders and securing new work.

Required skills

• Extensive hands-on experience in TIS, TMP, traffic operations, travel demand modelling and traffic forecasting.
• Strong experience with CUBE Voyager / Abu Dhabi STEAM, including ITC/DMT-approved STEAM modelling.
• Strong command of PTV Visum, SYNCHRO, SIDRA and HCS; VISSIM experience is an advantage.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
