Procurement Engineer - LV Switchgear & Electrical Products

About the role

The company is looking for a Procurement Engineer with hands-on experience in the LV switchgear, electrical panel or electrical trading industry. The role covers sourcing electrical materials and components, coordinating with suppliers, obtaining competitive quotations, placing purchase orders and ensuring materials are available on time for projects and operations. UAE experience in the electrical/switchgear industry is an advantage.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement of electrical products, components, materials and project requirements.
• Sourcing and evaluating local and international suppliers, and comparing quotations, prices, lead times, payment terms and technical specifications.
• Negotiating competitive pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Preparing and processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders and related documentation.
• Coordinating with Engineering, Sales, Projects, Production, Stores and Finance teams, and reviewing BOMs, specifications and datasheets before purchasing.
• Procuring LV switchgear products such as MCCBs, MCBs, ACBs, contactors, relays, meters, busbars, terminals, control components, enclosures, cables and accessories.
• Following up with suppliers for on-time delivery, and working with Stores/Warehouse on receipt, inspection and documentation.
• Supporting QC and Engineering on material discrepancies, quality issues and damaged deliveries.
• Maintaining supplier databases, price lists, lead times and product information; identifying alternative suppliers and monitoring market prices for cost savings.
• Recording procurement data in the ERP system, tracking outstanding orders and keeping records of quotations, purchase orders and supplier correspondence.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 2-3 years of procurement experience in an electrical, switchgear, panel manufacturing or electrical trading company.
• Good technical knowledge of LV electrical products and switchgear components.
• Experience with supplier sourcing, quotation comparison, negotiation and purchase order management.
• Ability to read BOMs, electrical specifications and datasheets.
• Preferred: ERP/procurement software experience, good Excel and MS Office skills, and UAE industry experience.
