Procurement Head – Mining Industry

About the role

Apt Resources is looking for a senior Procurement Head with extensive mining experience to lead procurement activities for its operations in Senegal. The role involves shaping procurement strategy, managing supplier relationships and ensuring timely delivery of critical equipment and services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with mining business objectives.
• Manage the full procurement cycle: sourcing, tendering, supplier evaluation, negotiations, purchase orders and contract administration.
• Oversee procurement of mining equipment, machinery, spare parts, maintenance materials and consumables.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings.
• Coordinate with operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics and warehouse teams to define requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve quality or delivery issues and ensure compliance with policies.
• Manage procurement budgets, forecasts and cost‑control initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• 18–20 years of procurement experience, with substantial mining industry exposure.
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and contract management.
• Experience working in remote or challenging environments and with international suppliers.
• Strong commercial awareness, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with procurement systems and ERP platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
