About the role
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of merchandise for the supermarket, including fresh produce, groceries, FMCG, and household goods. The role ensures optimal stock levels, quality, and cost‑efficiency while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices, quality, and delivery terms.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders based on stock requirements and sales forecasts.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with store and warehouse teams to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any delays or discrepancies with suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and payment terms.
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and pricing trends.
- Maintain supplier performance records, vendor database, and procurement documentation.
- Coordinate invoicing, payments, and budget compliance with finance.
- Handle product returns, damaged goods, and supplier claims.
- Support promotional planning through bulk purchases and special deals.
Required profile
- 3–4 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in a supermarket, retail, or FMCG environment.
