Product Compliance Counsel

About the role

An international, remote-first organization developing digital products that connect people across cultures is looking for a Product Compliance Counsel based in the United Arab Emirates. The role ensures that digital products, marketing activities and emerging technologies meet applicable legal and regulatory requirements, working with Product, Marketing and other teams to identify compliance risks and support responsible product development. It covers consumer protection, advertising, digital platform, sanctions and AI regulations across the EU and US markets.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve product specifications for websites and mobile apps, and assess risks of features, user journeys, monetization and digital services
• Take part in product compliance audits and incident response
• Review advertising materials and campaigns, advise Marketing teams on consumer protection and promotional claims, and support marketing compliance audits
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in the EU and US and communicate updates to the business
• Track sanctions developments and support internal sanctions policies, procedures and controls
• Contribute to compliance training, onboarding and internal guidance, playbooks and knowledge resources
• Review AI-enabled products and third-party AI integrations, support risk assessments and help set up governance frameworks
• Work with Product, Marketing and other stakeholders to embed compliance in product development and operations

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Law or an equivalent legal qualification
• Knowledge of EU and US consumer protection and marketing/advertising compliance, and of digital platform regulation and emerging AI governance requirements
• Knowledge of Apple App Store and Google Play guidelines
• Strong written and verbal English and Russian at minimum B2 level
• Strong analytical, research and attention to detail, with good collaboration skills in a remote, international setting
