Pump Design Engineer II

About the role

POWERTECH is seeking a motivated Pump Design Engineer II to lead the design, analysis, and validation of fuel and lubrication pumps for small gas‑turbine engines. You will own the full life‑cycle development, from concept through performance testing and integration with engine systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform design trade‑offs for efficiency, NPSH, cavitation limits and packaging within the engine core.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings compliant with aerospace GD&T and tolerance standards.
• Select and coordinate electric motor specifications with the electrical team.
• Conduct CFD analyses (internal flow, pressure distribution, cavitation prediction) using ANSYS Fluent, CFX or STAR‑CCM.
• Run FEA for structural integrity, rotor dynamics, fatigue life and thermal effects with ANSYS Mechanical.
• Define and execute pump test procedures, including performance mapping, endurance and vibration/thermal qualification.
• Collaborate with compressor, bearing, control‑system, ECU and MGU teams to ensure hydraulic and mechanical integration.
• Prepare design reports, test documentation and justification packages; maintain version control in PLM tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Fluid Machinery Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in pump design for aerospace or high‑speed industrial applications.
• Strong proficiency in CFD and FEA tools.

Required skills

• CFD analysis (ANSYS Fluent, CFX, STAR‑CCM).
• Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation).
• 3D CAD modeling and drafting (SolidWorks, GD&T, tolerance analysis).
• Material selection and aerospace standards compliance (MIL‑STD‑810).
• PLM/Version control tools.
